So there I was, minding my own business, when suddenly bam! More rugby games.
Second night of quarter-finals: Australia v South Africa and New Zealand v Argentina. And I was expecting both games to be utterly one-sided affairs, leading to SA v NZ in the semis. Turns out I was half right.
Australia somehow managed to get ahead of South Africa towards the end there, showing superior handling and running skills to cross the line and then hold the advantage. But the mighty Springbok wern’t playing their best, and even Schalk Burger didn’t make an impact. Literally, as his signature move is to fly right into the ruck like a springbok torpedo and knock players around like ninepins.
And at the end, somehow… somehow… we won! Australia, a side that has been looking sub-par the entire team, steals one from one of the top seeded teams. Looks like we’ve won the right to lose to the All Blacks next weekend, and I’m loving it!
Today’s Lesson: Sometimes you fail at failing. That’s called winning.
